David
Lewis is a Chartered Psychologist and a Fellow of both the
International Stress Management Association and the Institute of
Directors.David started life studying medicine but later became interested in psychology and obtained a First Class Honours degree (BSc) in psychology and later a doctorate (D.Phil) from the Department of Experimental Psychology at the University of Sussex. After lecturing there in Clinical Psychology and Psychopathology he again changed careers paths by studying neuroscience and is now Director of Neuroscience at Mindlab International based at the University of Sussex at Falmer, outside Brighton. A specialist in real life applications of QEEG David has a long term interest in developing new ways of helping people learn, study and cope with the increasingly vast amounts of information that confronts them on a daily basis. In the late seventies he was author of an influential study on the worldwide problems of information overload and stress produced by Reuters. He has worked with the UK Government’s Learning and Skills Council to promote lifetime learning and also developed an interactive teaching web-site for Funky Fogeys, a commercial organisation aimed at people aged fifty and over. David has written scores of best selling books on many aspects of psychology most of which have been translated into dozens of languages. These include Thinking Better for the New York publishers Rawson Wade. This rapidly became a best selling business book and a Fortune Book Club Choice. For Penguin he devised a series of tests designed to explore every aspect of mental functioning entitled: Know Your Own Mind. David’s professional interest in the relationship between stress and health led him to write a number of books on this important topic, including: The Doctors’ Heart Attack Recovery Plan (with Dr John Storey); One-Minute Stress Management; The Alpha Plan (made into a BBC TV documentary) and Information Overload - Practical Strategies for Surviving in Today's Workplace, published by Penguin Business Books in 1999. |
