Lesa Becker

PhD Candidate, University of Idaho

I'm a PhD candidate completing my dissertation on Information Overload’s Impact on Organizational Leaders: Learning How to Thrive in the 21st Century. I'm using the conceptual framework published by Eppler and Mengis (2004) to study the problem. Their premise is there are five factors that contribute to our information processing capacity:

Information characteristics
Technology
Personal factors
Tasks performed
Organizational environment

My focus research group has formulated a series of recommendations that will help leaders, and their organizations, manage the phenomenon of information overload.

In addition to completing my research at the University of Idaho, I’m the director of organizational learning at a large medical center in the western united states.
